Webreview’s survey of Internet usage reports that within 10 seconds, Web surfers have decided whether or not they will continue viewing a particular site. Even if they choose to look through the site, most users will only spend approximately 55 seconds on any one page. What this means is that most Internet users don’t actually read Web pages -- they scan them for information.
Keep this in mind when you are creating text for your site. Do not sacrifice content, but keep paragraphs short and concise. It is also a good idea to use headlines and subheadings as much as possible. The more reader-friendly your site is, the more effective it will be in persuading visitors to stay, use your product and even come back to buy some more.
